I am not ‘pro-AI’. The thought of AI becoming self-aware, sentient… and the idea of singularity concerns me a lot (and then some).
ChatGPT and other AI content-writing bots, AI art-generating bots, AI code-generating bots, etc may/probably will impact my industry and others. As we know, there are many AI bots that write content, poetry, create art, write code, etc. A list of popular ones can be found here in this article: www.pcguide.com/apps/who-created-chat-gpt/ .
AI + robotics may affect many industries… and then impact even further. But we’ll wait and see.
Side note: I’ve been documenting some of the recent videos I’ve been watching about AI here on my freelance website.
I had a go with ChatGPT on Friday evening to see what it can do. I asked it to write a variety of stories. I also asked it to, “list the most important items to have in an emergency pack.” This is what it wrote:
—————-
When preparing an emergency pack, it’s crucial to include items that can help you survive and address basic needs during a crisis. While specific requirements may vary based on your location and circumstances, here is a list of essential items to consider:
- Water: Store at least one gallon of water per person per day for drinking and sanitation. Aim for a three-day supply.
- Non-perishable food: Include a three-day supply of non-perishable food items like canned goods, energy bars, dried fruits, and nuts. Don’t forget a manual can opener.
- First aid kit: Stock a comprehensive first aid kit that includes bandages, antiseptic ointment, pain relievers, medical gloves, scissors, tweezers, and any necessary prescription medications.
- Flashlight and extra batteries: Pack a durable flashlight and extra batteries. Consider using LED flashlights, as they are more energy-efficient.
- Portable radio: Include a battery-powered or hand-crank radio to stay informed about the latest news and emergency updates.
- Emergency contact information: Keep a list of important phone numbers, including family members, local authorities, healthcare providers, and utility companies.
- Personal hygiene items: Pack essential hygiene supplies such as toilet paper, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and feminine hygiene products.
- Extra clothing and blankets: Include a change of clothes, warm layers, and blankets or sleeping bags for each family member.
- Multi-purpose tool: Carry a Swiss Army knife or a multi-purpose tool that includes a knife, pliers, screwdrivers, and other useful features.
- Whistle: A whistle can help you alert rescuers to your location in case you’re trapped or need assistance.
- Duct tape: Keep a roll of sturdy duct tape for various repairs and makeshift solutions.
- Cash and important documents: Keep some cash in small denominations and copies of important documents like identification cards, insurance policies, passports, and medical records in a waterproof container.
- Extra batteries and charging cables: If you have electronic devices, include extra batteries and charging cables to stay connected if power is available.
- Local maps: Have maps of your area, including evacuation routes, in case you need to navigate unfamiliar territory.
- Emergency shelter: Pack a lightweight emergency shelter such as a tent or tarp, or consider including a reflective emergency blanket.
Remember to periodically check and refresh your emergency pack, replacing expired items and updating it based on your specific needs and any changes in circumstances.
